What is an Affinity Group?
An “affinity group” is a group of persons affiliated with the same organization, often receiving certain discounts or other privileges. The American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) is a well-known group for people ages 50+ who share common interests and benefit from a variety of services and discounts. The American Automobile Association (AAA) as well as chambers of commerce are other examples.
BEN-E-LECT is contacted regularly by affinity groups interested in creating and endorsing a benefits program exclusively for their members. One example is the BEN-E-LECT Chamber Affinity Program that has been established at several chambers of commerce.
The obvious advantages for brokers and affinity groups include:
- It is a huge prospecting tool for brokers within the affinity group.
- It is one of the most valuable benefits an affinity group can offer that will attract members and build loyalty.
- Member employers will not only benefit from the cost savings of a BEN-E-LECT plan, but will enjoy additional discounts and, in some cases, services offered exclusively to the group.
BEN-E-LECT currently offers plans to nearly a dozen different affinity groups. Please let us know if you are interested in a program designed exclusively for an affinity group you have in mind.
