If you have a Nationwide client with late enrollees that need to be added to their health plan, August is the time to do it. Nationwide Health Plan’s Annual Enrollment Period begins August 1st of each year and ends August 31st regardless of the group anniversary date. Late enrollees are only eligible to enroll during this time.
The late enrollee will need to submit a completed and signed enrollment form, dated within the month of August and received by Nationwide within the month of August. The late enrollee or dependent will be enrolled in the group with a 10/1 effective date.
Keep in mind that eligible employees or dependents who were not previously enrolled but now, due to a qualifying event desire to enroll, will not be considered late enrollees and therefore do not need to enroll during August. These qualifying events include: Divorce, Marriage, Childbirth and Non-voluntary loss of coverage.
